About Square Up in the City
When Investment Week created Square Up in the City in 2005 we had no idea just how much it would raise for those in need.
After the tsunamis that struck Asia on the 26th December 2004 Investment Week coordinated fund raising that generated £55,000 from 10 leading fund management companies plus Incisive Media.
Not satisfied with this, the concept for Square Up in the City was conceived, a night of entertainment and charity auctions where your peers take to the ring. However, by the time fight-night arrived, the DEC had closed their appeal on behalf of the tsunamis.
The £81,000 raised by the inaugural event in 2005 was therefore used to provide aid for victims of the 'world's worst humanitarian crisis', as described by the United Nations, in Darfur, Sudan. Since then, Square up in the City has raised literally £100k's for good causes.
